Thinkings, doings, projects underway ...

Here’s a photo of my wee library (taken by our Office Manager, Jude) at Boffa Miskell after the earthquake. Remarkably intact considering we’re in the CBD, on the 7th floor of a glass building, and the river is just across the road.
Our building was given the green ticket (ok to occupy) from a structural engineer, so my colleagues will be back in the office today. I’m due in tomorrow morning.

First day back after the earthquake

I went into work for a couple of hours today. We had the green ticket to open. Remarkably we’ve suffered no damage despite being on the 6th and 7th floor of a glass building. Even the Friday drinks trolly was in one piece. I was really apprehensive going in, dreading any aftershocks. Thankfully any that happened were so minor they didn’t cause any panic, and the clean up I had to do to my little library was very minor. Thankfully the action of the earthquake seems to have been West-East. As the book shelves face North to South not much fell. Well, that’s the theory. I don’t know if it’ll make a jot of differnece in a future aftershock, but I’ve pushed all the journal boxes and monographs back into the shelves as far as they will go. “Experts” keep saying it’s likely that there’ll be a big after-shock, at least a 6 point quake. It’s not a cheering thought.
